  • Custom Shortcuts: The names and URLs of the shortcuts you add through the Extension's interface.

  How it's stored: This data is stored locally on your device using your browser's chrome.storage.local API. It is accessible only by this Extension on your device.

  No Personal Identifiable Information (PII) is directly collected by the Extension itself, beyond what you voluntarily enter as part of a shortcut's name or URL (e.g., if you add a shortcut to your personal social media page).

• Data NOT Collected/Transmitted Externally:
  • The Extension DOES NOT collect, transmit, or share any of your personal data, Browse history, search queries, or any other information to any external servers, third parties, or to us (the developer).
  • Your usage of the Extension is entirely private to your local browser.

3. How Your Data is Used

The locally stored data (themes and shortcuts) is used solely to:

• Personalize your new tab page according to your chosen theme.
• Display your custom shortcuts, allowing for quick access to your favorite websites.

4. Third-Party Services

Search Functionality: The search bar functionality within the Extension uses your browser's default search engine (which you can configure in your browser settings, e.g., Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo) via the Chrome Search API. The Extension itself does not intercept, log, or process these search queries. Your interaction with your chosen search engine is governed by that specific search engine's own privacy policies.

5. Data Retention

Your locally stored preferences (themes and shortcuts) will remain on your device for as long as the WholesomeTabs Extension is installed and enabled in your browser, or until you choose to remove the Extension or clear your browser's local storage for this Extension.

6. Your Data Rights

Since all data is stored locally on your device and not transmitted to us, you have full control over it:

• Access/View: You can view your saved shortcuts and current theme directly on the new tab page.
• Modify: You can modify your theme selection and add/remove/change shortcuts using the Extension's interface.
• Delete: You can delete your data by:
  • Removing individual shortcuts using the "x" button next to them.
  • Uninstalling the WholesomeTabs Extension from your Chrome browser. This will automatically delete all data stored by the Extension on your local device.
  • Clearing your browser's local storage for this Extension (advanced users).

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page.
